Common Construction Accidents

Common accidents in lifting operations:

overturning of the crane:

The lifting capacity of pick and carry cranes is reduced when traversing slopes or changing direction. Reduced lifting capacity should be taken into account when planning a lift to ensure the crane does not become unstable and overturn.

Breaking the boom sling:

The auxiliary hook and headache ball with a combined weight of 30kg fell 12m from the boom of a 20t crane landing within 1.5m from the dogman and his offsider. These two workers were standing under the boom placing a sling on the main hook. The auxiliary rope had broken.

Touching overhead power lines:

It doesn't matter if its a bird, a human being or any other animal. If the potential difference across its body is zero, electricity won't flow through it and hence it would't get an electric shock.

Collision with obstacles:

In order to solve tower cranes interference and collision problems in the construction site,
the reason of group tower cranes collision in construction site is analyzed in detail and four types of
typical tower cranes collision case are summed up.

Falling objects:

Green netting that goes over buildings when they are being refaced in areas where there are a lot of pedestrians is the most recognized form, but there also is netting that is put up within the construction project, such as directly under work being done, to help stop objects from falling on workers below.
